Coping With Loss
Death itself is a very hard thing to accept, but when you knowledge prior to the death that death is a possibility, it may alleviate the pain. An unsuspected death leaves the survivors with many unanswered questions, making the death that much more difficult.
All people react differently to coping with the loss of someone who has committed suicide, but these are a few things that helped me cope with that loss.
- Seek help and support
- Try not to seclude yourself from people (this is very difficult)
- Do not keep it inside, share your story
- Do what is right for you
- Prepare yourself for painful reminders
- Do not rush yourself to recovery, it takes time
- Expect setbacks
- Look to the future
